I am always looking for ways for my children to learn to help others. They love Build-a-Bear, so this is great for them. I went last Spring to do this, I expected a line so I got there 45 minutes early, but we were the only ones there. It goes really quick, it's just the stuffing part and they don't get to dress them, but I made it into a fun event by getting a treat after.

Another thing that I've been wanting to share is the story of Stephanie and Christian Nielson. This is a story about a wonderful family who works together in the midst of a terrible tragedy. If you consider yourself a die hard blog addict, you will already know about this because it's all over the blogosphere, so this is for the rest of you.
It sums it all up and is told in such a touching way. *Get Kleenex first.

Stephanie Nielson is the author of this blog http://www.nieniedialogues.blogspot.com/.
On it, she celebrates motherhood and shows that there is pride in being a homemaker and wife. She even makes it look glamorous.

On August 16th, NieNie (her blog name) was in a private plane crash in eastern Arizona with her husband and his flight instuctor. The instructor died the following day from extensive burns. Her husband, Christian, has been recovering from burns to 35% of his body and is currently in rehab. He's going to be released tomorrow. Stephanie remains in a chemically induced coma while she receives skin grafts due to the severe burns that cover 85% of her body. She might be allowed to "wake up" for the first time tomorrow. The Nielsons have 4 young children (oldest 7, youngest,2) that have been being cared for by Stephanie's sisters in Provo, Utah. The effort that this whole family (both Stephanie's and Christian's) has put forth to help in this situation is extremely inspiring. It is what we should aspire to do within our own families daily, not just in the event of tragedy. There have been several efforts to help raise money for this family for the expenses that won't be covered by insurance.

There are online auctions, special events like this one http://alicedewitt.blogspot.com/2008/10/busy-weekend-part-2.html

There's a special concert tomorrow by LDS musician Mindy Gledhill http://blog.cjanerun.com/2008/10/reminding-you-again.html
I wish so much that I could go to that! Look at the cookies that Stephanie's cousin made to sell at the even.
When you read Stephanie's blog, you'll understand the significance of the silhouettes and you'll probably want to duplicate the project in your house.

There's so much more to this story. Make sure to have a box of tissues close by and be prepared to be inspired yourself.
