I really don't enjoy carving pumpkins, probably because I'm not very good at it. What I am good at though is copying other people's ideas. I actually think painting is better because it's something that the kids can be more involved in. My favorite was a pumpkin that was spraypainted bronze, with black big black polka dots. I couldn't find where I saw it though.
